In what seemed to be as much a surprise for the two brothers as it did for the audience, Suhring joined Sorn this afternoon to become one of only two three-star Michelin restaurants in Thailand.

Suhring, which has been part of the Bangkok fine dining scene for more than nine years, was the culmination of the award ceremony for the Michelin Guide Ceremony Thailand 2026 at the Ritz-Carlton in Bangkok. Sorn, the only other three-star Michelin restaurant in town, earned their award at the ceremony last year.

The mid-day ceremony came with a number of surprises for new and promoted restaurants, some only open for a few months.

In the one-star category, new and promoted restaurants include Gaggan, who also got a mention in the Suhring brothers’ speech as their mentor, and the beloved Bangkok favorite Bo.lan. Nusara, too, took home a star for the first time—a little treat for the chef who was already on stage to collect his award for Le Du.

While these were well deserved, Etcha and Cannubi by Umberto Bombana, both fairly new to the Bangkok scene took home their stars in their first year of operation. Similarly, Juksunchae became the first Korean restaurant in Thailand to earn a star.

In the two-star category, there were two promotions: Inddee, which makes some of the best fine dining Indian food in the city and is fast overtaking old favorites, and Anne-Sophie Pic’s at Le Normandie. The Le Normandie two stars comes after a massive revamp and rebrand earlier this year.

On the Green Star front, an award recognizing excellence in sustainability, Baan Tepa, Haoma, Jampa, and Pru took home their stars as usual, but it was a fresh new Green Star for GOAT.

Though not taking home any stars, Margo from Wilfred Hocquet took home the Opening of the Year Award and Aulis nabbed Best Service.

In a big surprise for the crowd, the Best Young Chef Award didn’t even go to Bangkok, it went to the well deserved Suwijak Kunghae of Royd.

In a special first time ever recognition, David Thompson received Thailand’s first Mentor Chef Award, for his contributions to the scene from Aksorn and Chop Chop Cookshop.

Thailand now has 33 one-star restaurants, eight two-star restaurants, and two three-star restaurants. In 2026, you can expect that galaxy of stars to grow.
