A bottle of wine can be more than you expect. It is a place, it is a people, and it is a history. Giusti Wine is a particularly personal example: each bottle is, in many ways, a memoir of founder Ermenegildo Giusti’s hometown of Montello, a story that has travelled far beyond Italy to wine lovers around the world.

Born in 1954 in Volpago del Montello to a farming family that grew Glera, Bianchetta, and Verdiso, Giusti left Italy for Canada at 17. He became a builder, but never lost his connection to home. In 2002, he returned to Montello and founded Giusti Wine with a simple ambition: to express the character of his homeland through wine.

For the Giusti family, that means cultivating not only grapes, but also a deep respect for the land and the traditions of the region. Montello’s red, iron-rich soils, rolling hills and location along the Piave River give the wines freshness, structure and a subtle mineral character.

“Wine, like art, is matter, color, light, satisfaction of the senses, madness and reason, patient research and timeless passion,” Giusti says.

That passion extends beyond the vineyards. The family restored the historic Abbey of Sant’Eustachio, which overlooks the winery, while the largely underground winery was designed to blend into the landscape.

Today, Giusti Wine farms more than 120 hectares, producing wines including Oro Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, Umberto I Montello Rosso Superiore DOCG and Augusto, made from the native Recantina grape. Through sustainable farming and a commitment to local heritage, the Giusti family continues to let wine lovers discover the story of Montello in every glass.
