The cocktail creatives at Phra Khanong’s Wasteland launch their first sustainable craft spirit

Brewed in Chonburi and inspired by Thai candles, there's a special menu through November.

The cocktail creatives at Phra Khanong’s Wasteland launch their first sustainable craft spirit
6 October, 2026 Bangkok time

Wasteland may not be winning all the awards, but it’s no stranger to grabbing headlines. The wild and weird cocktails here have earned this space in Phra Khanong a reputation for creativity and sustainability. Now, they’re striking out with a sustainable new booze.

Nual is a savory craft spirit inspired by the botanical notes in Thai fragrance candles (เทียนอบ) with a mix of Angelica root, Cacao husks, chalood, coriander seeds, jasmine, juniper berries, niam hom, and sugar cane.

Wasteland has always been looking to make their own way on the cocktail scene and previously made craft sodas for their drinks, but Nual is their first craft spirit.

Most ingredients are sourced locally from around Thailand, which is very much part of the Wasteland theme. It's also made locally at Inchon Distillery with small batch creations.

As for the news that actually applies to you cocktail lovers out there, through October and until November 30, you’ll find a specially curated menu highlighting Nual.

For those that remember Wasteland six years ago made a splash, but they came back in force in 2025. A lot of spaces around Bangkok, including nightlife hubs, talk the talk when it comes to sustainable products. But, in the torrent of greenwashing, Wasteland seems to walk the walk.
