This Ekkamai mini mall has struggled to make a splash, but we find ourselves there more and more often these days for its phenomenal brunch options and chill vibes.

Earth Ekkamai is a little hard to define. Part open-air shopping complex, part neighborhood hangout, this cul-de-sac mini mall appeared at the end of 2022 and has been playing musical chairs with its tenants ever since. Businesses have come and gone at an impressive rate, but the complex has a habit of giving us something new to get excited about.

A couple of familiar faces have managed to stick around. A boutique Tops Market, offers a more premium take on the supermarket experience with imported groceries, excellent cheeses and plenty of charcuterie to browse. Meanwhile, Rolling Roasters has established itself as a reliable brunch destination, serving cafe classics in a huge, light-filled industrial space. The food is good, but the coffee is the real star: serious brews, plenty of beans and roasts to choose from, and brewing methods to suit those who take their caffeine very seriously.

Between the coffee, the spacious setting and the laid-back atmosphere, it's an easy place to meet friends and lose an afternoon.

Pinki's Deli is the main event

Pinki's Deli has quickly become our favorite reason to visit Earth Ekkamai. This was the brand's first location, opening for a soft launch in late December 2025, before expanding to Chitlom in February 2026, followed by Central Embassy and The Town Hall 49. It's a rapid rise, but one that makes perfect sense once you've eaten your way through the menu.

The sandwiches alone are worth the trip. Our favorite is the El Cubano 2.0, a generous combination of house-smoked pork belly, smoked ham, koji chimichurri, American mustard and dill pickles. It's smoky, punchy and satisfyingly messy in all the right ways.

Then there's the Wagyu Reuben, a limited drop that layers extra-soft, juicy Wagyu corned beef with Pinki's signature shiso pesto, house-made secret sauce, sauerkraut, whole-grain mustard and pickles.

The brûlée series is another story entirely. Sourdough slices with a crisp, caramelized layer of sugar on the outside, filled with combinations such as ham and Brie. We're still not entirely sure whether we love or hate the sweet-savory confusion of it all. It's almost dessert, but not quite. It's a little strange, a little indulgent and pretty delicious. A wild ride, in sandwich form.

Pinki's also offers a substantial selection of creative sweet and savory sourdough breads. But the real star, for us, is the schmear platter.

Condiments are my favorite food group, after all, and Pinki's understands the assignment. The Essential Bread Platter (B325) is best enjoyed with a friend and a little time to spare. It comes with seven varieties of schmear, from sweet and savory butters to cream cheeses, ready to be scooped up with crusty pieces of sourdough over coffee and conversation.

Our standouts were the Miso Truffle Butter and Mentaiko Cream Cheese. The latter is deeply savory without being fishy, bringing to mind the deliciously addictive taramasalata we used to devour in Sydney's Greek delis.

More reasons to make a detour

Pinki's isn't the only newcomer bringing fresh energy to Earth Ekkamai. Two Men Bagel has also landed here, marking its fourth restaurant after first making a name for itself in Sala Daeng. The brand has some of Bangkok's most creative bagel toppings, although we're not entirely convinced by the combination of Spam, peanut butter, hash brown and egg. The NY Corned Beef Stack, on the other hand, is a much easier sell, with juicy Wagyu corned beef, tangy sauerkraut and house-made sauce delivering all the deli energy you could want.

Best of all, the sweet cream cheese schmears are excellent, particularly the decadent blueberry. For anyone living around the upper end of Sukhumvit, having a branch nearby is a welcome bonus.

There's also Scuba, a seafood neo-brasserie from the team behind Iode, which opened in May 2025. The concept is firmly focused on seafood, with prices that place it squarely in special-occasion territory. Fish and chips will set you back B690, while the Mad Villain seafood platter reaches a formidable B9,900. The menu looks tempting, but those prices have us saving this one for a particularly celebratory evening. One day, Scuba. One day.

Elsewhere, Bijoux de Beurre Échiré is a good stop for classic bakery treats and bread, while Cedar – Yaowarat Style Street Food promises fiery wok-fried Thai favorites in a more polished setting. Rosemary Everyday Brasserie, Hom Man Khao Man Gai, and Ern Manee, a refined Thai bistro and chef's table from MasterChef-winning chefs Paope and Quest, round out the current lineup.

Earth Ekkamai may not have quite figured out its identity, but perhaps that's part of its appeal. Its constantly changing roster means there's always something new to discover, while the handful of established favorites give you a reason to keep coming back. Right now, with Pinki's Deli serving excellent sandwiches and some seriously addictive schmears, we're more than happy to see what comes next.
