17 best Mexican restaurants in Bangkok to try in 2026

17 best Mexican restaurants in Bangkok to try in 2026
5 May, 2026 Bangkok time

A happy Cinco de Mayo one and all. BK is bringing you our annual list of our favorite Mexican places to eat, drink, and be merry. The Mexican scene keeps growing every year (as does this list).

We’ve combined the winners and runners up from our annual Top Tables event this year with some new, fairly untested places as well as a few staff favorites. As ever, this year saw some favorites—like Dos Burros—disappear, but Bangkok never quits.

Now, this is by no means an exhaustive list, and there are plenty of places that deserve your attention that are serving Latin fare but not necessarily Mexican—such as Bar.Yard and Above Eleven—but this should make your Cinco de Mayo a little more tasty.

Santiaga

Well, Santiaga is always going to be the pick for best Mexican in Bangkok—and that’s really saying something. The space for Mexican food gets more competitive every year, but this space hits the mark every time. In addition to taking home the Best Mexican Restaurant Award at this year’s Top Tables, Chef Mauricio unveiled a new tasting journey titled Cantina Mexicana: A Tribute to Flavour, Spirit, and Storytelling. Each course is paired with a bespoke cocktail inspired by the bold traditions of Mexico, with tequilas and mezcals taking center stage in ways that both surprise and delight. The commitment to quality and authenticity ensures each visit feels new and vibrant.

Ojo

On the 76th floor of The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, Ojo pairs some of the city’s most dramatic views with modern Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is led by founder Chef Francisco “Paco” Ruano, working alongside Chef Alonso Luna Zárate, who reinterpret Mexican flavors with precision, seasonal produce, and local inspiration. In September 2025, Ojo introduced a refreshed menu featuring eight new dishes that highlight both regional tradition and contemporary technique. Earlier in the year, they launched a weekday set lunch, giving diners a more approachable way to try signatures such as Ojo Guacamole, Mushroom Quesadilla, Esquites, and Pescado à la Talla.

Delia

Celebrating its first anniversary in September 2025, Delia has quickly become one of Bangkok’s most exciting new Mexican restaurants. Located on the ground floor of Baan Trok, a century-old heritage building in Chinatown, the restaurant channels the spirit of Mexico’s beloved abuelitas with food that feels both comforting and contemporary. Chefs Gabriela Espinosa and Diego Zarco present a menu rooted in tradition but refreshed with Thai seasonal produce. Signatures include Mole Negro, tamales, and Tres Leches cake, while playful touches appear in dishes like Mochi de Arroz con Leche. Seasonal quesadillas—such as a version with homemade masa, mushroom tinga, and plenty of cheese—keep the menu in constant rotation.

El Santo

Opening in 2024, El Santo has really carved out a spot for itself both on the Mexican cuisine scene and the nightlife scene. Afterall, it’s not many places you can go for both tacos and professional wrestling. El Santo has a love for luchadores, and that wild, fantastical spirit shows in the venue. They’ve got miniature rings for your tequila shots, fun specials, an indoor-outdoor vibe, and you can’t miss the octopus chicharrón.

La Monita

La Monita is a Ploenchit spot for margs and some big Mexican and Tex-Mex fare, the downstairs little sister of our #1 pick, Santiaga, and run by Billy Bautista. The vivid design comes with quesadillas and tacos with house-made corn tortillas. Their enchiladas are a favorite for regulars, and the carne asada taco with New Zealand rib eye steak is a must-try. Though it’s a little more downmarket than Santiaga, it doesn’t suffer for that; the greater affordability makes this place fun and family friendly—depending on how many margaritas you have.

Cholos

Bangkok knows Cholos moved to their spot in Old Town on Charoenkrung Road on the second floor last year. For those in the know, Cholos has pedigree with Gaggan and Gaa, but the vibe here is easy and fun. The atmosphere at their new space is much more accessible. However, the big news about Cholos came recently, with a whole new space opening in Yaowarat recently. For those of you keeping track that’s three venues from these Bangkok Mexican food experts: Asoke, Charoenkrung, and now Chinatown.

Missing Burro

Gearing up for Cinco de Mayo this year with seasonal specials inspired by regional Mexican dishes, these two Mexican brothers serving up Yucatan cuisine are a long-time favorite in Bangkok. With outdoor seating, a cool vibe, and great food, it’s just as easy of a place to party with a good group as it is to chill for lunch. People love the birra here, but a dish that’s fast becoming a litmus test for great Mexican food around the city is barbacoa.

Charley Brown’s

Chef Primo is the star here. Tucked away in a little corner of Asoke, this space is all about the margaritas as they do tacos, but the vibe is friendly, modern, and a little bit silly—as you notice from all the endless jokes in the bathroom. If you’re indecisive, go for the Charley Brown platter boasting a taco, enchilada and chimichanga with rice and beans.

La Lupita

Chef Alberto Garcia Espinosa serves up good food and good drinks at this neighborhood favorite. The space is bright and friendly, and it’s kind of a celebration spot, with colorful sombreros and good music. While the authentic tacos are the big draw here, there’s one very big reason this spot remains a favorite: It’s open late. Like, really late. And Bangkok needs somewhere open at 1am that will still give you tacos.

Tacos and Salsa

Tacos and Onnut? Yes, Onnut has been coming up in the world, but the best place to get Mexican food is still Tacos and Salsa. Simple, no nonsense Mexican food. Eating in, this easy-to-miss spot is famous for their baja fried fish tacos, but the dish we keep going back to is the chimichanga, so filled with cheese it can kind of be hard to finish (but we manage). If you have a big group (or want to just eat yourself into a coma) get the taco platter.

Mexicano Restaurante Autentico

We know what you’re thinking. A hotel Mexican restaurant? And you’re wrong. The 4th floor of the Rembrandt gives off surprisingly fun vibes for a hotel spot. The food is authentic, affordable, and the venue itself is prone to put on big parties. If you haven’t been and are thinking about going, catch their weekend brunch. Tacos by the pool, what else is there in life?

Rodeo Mex-Tex Grill and Tap House

A little bit restaurant, a little bit nightlife—this spot focuses on what they call “Mex-Tex” food, with the focus obviously being on the Mexican flavors. That said, if you don’t like the “Mex” section of the menu, they’ve got a “Tex” option with a pretty good Buffalo chicken burger. We’d be lying if we said this was the most “authentic” Mexican restaurant in town, but who cares? The food is good and the vibe is fun.

Ms. Maria and Mr. Singh

Gaggan is having (another) moment in Bangkok. But let’s not forget the fusion magic of Mexican Indian food that just works. This space hosts fun guest shifts and provides an a la carte vibe you don’t normally get at this type of spot. The mix of Indian and Mexican cuisines is careful, creative, and brings the best of both worlds. And while you may be focused on the food menu, don’t miss out on the drinks here—which are every bit as complex.

Macaria

If you didn’t know about this place, don’t feel bad. We didn’t either. But after trying the food, we can say unequivocally: Bangna can do Mexican food. From owner Iñigo Mantecón, Macaria is named after the Mayan woman who taught this chef to love food. Found at Maple Hotel on Srinagarindra Road in Bangna, it was quite a surprise to find such heartfelt, careful Mexican cooking in this neighborhood. Expect a menu that travels from Oaxaca to Yucatan as well as some fun mashups like mac and cheese with soft-shelled crab.

Molino

Molino is about both the food and the energetic vibe. Another space that puts the Mexican party atmosphere in its DNA, this colorful restaurant has low lights that fit with the cocktail bar style. If you’re all about the tacos, you’ll find bottomless tacos every Tuesday and Sunday starting at noon.

Danzante

Around for a little over two years, Danzante has been flying under the radar for a lot of Bangkok diners, but they have an affordable menu with dishes you might not find in many other places, like the Chiles Rellenos and Cochinita Pibil. You’ll also find a healthy helping of micheladas and margaritas to keep you eating.

Catrika

A spot tucked away in Khlong Toey at the Valia Hotel, Catrika is an energetic spot that is newly opened and is taking cues from Mexican nightlife. It’s still early days, but they’re keying into the demographic that wants food, tunes, and a big party. At the moment, keep an eye on their Latino Family Brunch on Sundays.
