Japanese Film Festival - House Edition

 

Those hungry for the taste of Japan after canceling vacation plans can pretend they’re on vacay at “Japanese Film Festival–House Edition” from Nov 13-Nov 22 at House Samyan. What’s different this year is that the festival is also offering an online platform. The online Japanese Film Festival begins on Nov 22 and will run through to Nov 29 for free on the festival’s website.

Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku (Memories of My Body)

 

First shown at the 75th Venice International Film Festival, and then the Nantes Three Continent Festival, “Kucumbu Tubuh Indahku (Memories of My Body)” is a 2019 Indonesian drama directed and written by Garin Nugroho and produced by Ifa Isfansyah. The film, inspired by the life of dancer and actor Rianto, portrays the story of a male dancer who becomes a young performer of Lengger (traditional Indonesian dance) and explores his sexuality.

Shorties Film Festival

 

The annual Shorties International Film Festival is back with their third edition running through Nov 14. This year, film buffs can catch one of 38 shortlisted films online. Select movies will be screened on virtual screening platform Bingewave and a season pass ticket (for a full-week) goes for USD$10 (about B300). Exclusively for Bangkokians, there will be an onsite screening on Nov 13 at The Hive from 6-8pm.
