Fatty’s Bar and Diner always wins BK’s Best Dive Bar Award. Why? Because everyone loves Fatty’s. It’s about a mix of live music on the tiny stage, cheap beer, the wings, and that special Wisconsin charm (but, yeah, it’s the wings).
This weekend, Fatty’s will celebrate their 14-year anniversary with a two-day party, and every year is kind of a big deal. The party will spill out onto the sidewalk—which is kind of insane since it’s next to the highway under the Rama IX around a blind corner coming over a hill. Seriously, someday someone is going to die here.
Anyway, Mathew Fischer’s Wisconsin dive bar in Din Daeng is an expat community as much as it’s a bar. The live music at the stage by the door is unpredictable enough and quality enough to keep guests coming for visiting acts and local would-be stars.
For the four year anniversary, there will be live music all weekend for both days, anniversary food, giveaways and prizes, games, and drink specials (our guess is cheap cans of beer).
A total of 15 bands will be playing for the event, and there will be no cover. The party starts both days at 5pm. There are two reasons to get there early: 1) Grab one of the few seats and 2) Fatty’s closes promptly at midnight (or thereabouts), so get in the drinks while you can.
It’ll be a good crowd, to be sure, and anyone who is anyone who likes cheap beer and local bands will be there.
