Opened: September, 2009.
The buzz: Despite it receiving a mega-makeover a year ago, the people behind Narz were already worried about wear and tear, and decided to give the whole complex a re-makeover to try and stay abreast of Sukhumvit’s ever-shifting nightlife scene.
The décor: Each of Narz’s three zones has been given a facelift. The garish Narcissus section sports a Romanesque décor with a preponderance of gold and heavy black furniture to match. For more room to breathe, cross the connecting balcony/bridge to the other two zones. Dedicated to live music, Ripper goes for an otherworldly theme with sleek cylindrical shapes and metallic furniture. Hip hop fans should head to Zealot, which goes after a “New York-style” club vibe and houses some sparse seating in a space which also doubles as a dance floor.
The music: The music policy remains intact with trance in Narcissus, hip hop in Zealot and live music in Ripper.
The price: Cocktails B200, beer B150, whisky B1,500-1,800 and mixers B60.
The crowd: Narcissus’s die-hard fans and mid-20s to 30s night crawlers.
Why you’ll come back: The variety of music and vibe, the cavernous space and because you loved the old Narcissus.
