For many of us, we escape daily to Arrakis, Middle Earth, Solaris, Westeros, and the Disc because the real world is, for the most part, a tedious garbage can of poo and rats. Sci-fi, fantasy, and horror fans can come together next month for a one-day celebration of speculative fiction.
Hosted by Bangkok Literature & Art Festival (Bkklitfest), the event will be hosting domestic and international authors for talks, as well as writing workshops and offline reading sessions.
The event, held at Bangkok Kunsthalle just off Maitri Chit Road, will be inviting Chinese science fiction writer Regina Kanyu Wang and Katalina Watt, author of bestselling novel “Saltswept,” a finalist for the 2023 Hugo Award. Thailand’s only speculative talent will also be attending with Veeraporn Nitiprapha, author of “The Blind Earthworm in the Labyrinth,” and Apinuch Petcharapiracht, author of “Death of the Maiden.”
In partnership with the British Council Thailand, the event kicks off at 10am Aug 22, and will include a book and craft market.
Bkklitfest has been bringing the city together with reading events for some time now, including the popular reading parties and offline reading clubs at places like The Commons Thonglor and Public House and reading retreats to Khao Yai. Bookings for the event are available with Bkklitfest.
