Star chef at Potong, cocktails at Opium, Shake Shack collaborations, Chefs Uncut on Netflix, and now she’ll be premiering as a judge on the first ever MasterChef Asia this September.
Announced earlier today, the show will premier on Sep 22 on HBO Max and TLC and Discovery Channel on Sep 23. The 10-episode series will feature Bangkok’s own Chef Pam, Chef Edward Lee, and Chef Kelvin Cheung. If you know this show, you know that contestants go head-to-head in a series of high-stakes challenges for the ultimate title of MasterChef Asia.
Chef Pam is the bleeding edge of Thai-Chinese food in Bangkok, taking home top awards at BK Magazine’s Top Tables as well as the World’s Best Female Chef award last year 2025. From a 120-year-old, five-story shophouse, Chef Pam has become a symbol for a Bangkok dining scene that is fearless and creative, and this city is very proud of her.
The new series was filmed in Macao, featuring local markets and hot city restaurants. MasterChef Asia will feature international talent according to a press release regarding the premier, including Vietnamese-Australian chef Khanh Ong; restaurant owner Sahadol “Pond” Tantrapim; Malaysian pastry chef Marcus Low; Korean gastronomy specialist Areum Yoon; ‘Culinary and Cultural Ambassador of Meghalaya’ Nambie Jessica Marak; and Asian cuisine chefs Audrey Wicksana, Therese Lum, Mime Kataniwa, Ivory Yat, and from Macao, Sandy Tang.
Alongside Chef Pam, foodies can look forward to guest judges Mark Wiens (also of Bangkok fame), Abi Marquez, Chef Ken Chong, and Chef Julien Tongourian.
To date, there have been more than 16,000 episodes around the world in 74 markets, making it the most popular cookery show on the planet. But joke’s on you, because we here in Bangkok can see Chef Pam anytime we want.
