Resort-themed hospitals

There might not be rollercoasters or a lazy river ride but the BMA is at least hoping that the seaside location of their new hospital and elderly rehabilitation center will have a beneficial effect on recovery times. The two billion baht project is being built on a 34-rai area in the Bang Khunthian seashore district, and the collection of low-rise buildings will jut out into the sea on stilts, just like those fancy honeymoon places in the Maldives. Combined with the soothing effects of bracing sea air and relaxing sea views, the center for the elderly will also offer a medical spa, meditation classes and treatments to control the body’s energy. While there’s still no news about beach volleyball, surfing classes or sand building competitions, the BMA did confirm that the first phase should be completed by Dec 2012.
