This week you will mostly die from…
Dengue Fever
It’s rainy season, and you know what that means: deadly hemorrhagic fever, a.k.a. dengue, and there currently seems to be a small outbreak in Bangkok. Since the beginning of the rains, there have been 27,548 reported cases and four deaths. The BMA is pushing ahead with a dengue cleanup project, though we’re a little wary of their plans to install finger scanning devices at seven schools that will keep track of absenteeism and ask teachers to investigate whether the causes are related to disease—whatever happened to good ol’ mass sprayings and mosquito nets? Clearly, they’re too busy with unnecessarily ultra-high tech projects to actually save you from dying, so please wear plenty of natural bug spray and keep your windows closed.
