The BMA and Governor Sukhumbhand recently launched a pretty cool-sounding project called ‘turn your old homes into boutique hotels’ and has already got 40 individuals and small businesses to sign up for the plan. They kick started the scheme with a seminar where industry experts were on hand to offer advice on how to turn your old tuek taw into a money making guesthouse. Specifically, the BMA are targeting the areas of Bangkok around Thonburi where they hope the appeal of old properties and the riverside way of life will attract tourists and revive Bangkok’s nickname of the Venice of the East.
