Opened: November, 2009.
The buzz: A group of pals, among them noted celebs like Joey Boy and Gybzy from Girly Berry, have turned the former space of J Gallery into a bar-cum-gallery. And, despite the cut-throat competition in the neighborhood, and probably thanks to the owners, Tease Gallery has already become the new ‘it’ hangout.
The décor: Located opposite Jam Bar on J-Avenue’s fourth floor, the bar boasts an artwork-filled entrance and canvases on which you can add your own magnum opus (and that, sadly, is the only “gallery” aspect of the bar). Step inside and you’ll enter a high-ceilinged circular room, decked out entirely in white with vivid-colored furniture for contrast. From here, turn left for the balcony area, equipped with a small, decorative pool and cutesy wooden furniture, or turn right for a dose of live music and a private corner aimed to please lovebirds and groups of friends.
The music: DJs and a live band take turns pumping out hit tunes, covering pretty much all genres from pop and hip hop to house and trance.
The price: Cocktails B220, beer B160, whisky B1,800 and mixers B60. Snacks start from B120.
The crowd: A slightly more mature crowd, from 30 years old up.
Why you’ll come back: The views, the bar’s massive space, the chance of celeb sightings and free wifi.
