KAI Alps Resort Opens at the Foot of the Japanese Alps

After unveiling KAI Hakone in January, Japanese hospitality group Hoshino Resorts has just introduced KAI Alps (global.hoshinoresort.com/kai_alps), a newly-renovated ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) at the foot of the Japanese Alps (Nihon Arupuru), a series of mountain ranges covering seven cities in three prefectures, famous for its skiing in winter and trekking in summer. KAI Alps sits near Lake Kizaki in Omachi, Nagano prefecture, which means you get easy access to the six ski resorts in the area as well as nearby hot springs and public baths. There are two types of suites, both completed with tatami mats and Japanese traditional furnishings. Rates are from ¥9,500 (B2,855) per person with breakfast and from ¥13,500 (B4,055) per person with breakfast and dinner. There’s a free shuttle service, too, if you can get yourself to JR Shinano-Omachi station.
