Casa Lapin x49

Enjoy a cup of joe at the gorgeous and thoughtful Brooklyn-inspired Casa Lapinx49.

Rough wood tables, exposed brickwork and imposing-looking coffee equipment—this charming but tiny cafe offers a slice of Brookyn in Bangkok thanks to the owner’s keen eye for decorating (by day he’s an interior designer). Not just a pretty space, it also serve a serious cup of coffee—choose from espresso machine, drip or French press, expertly made and served with baked goods sourced from young Thai entrepeneurs.

Other branches: Shukhumvit Soi 26, 02-000-5546; Ari, 02-116-3308; Phloen Chit, 091-879-3285; Bangna, 062-019-2444; Sukhumvit Soi 23, 090-985-2952; Ratchathewi 093-936-5451.

Hipster haunt Casa Lapin expanded beyond its rabbit-hole original branch to serve up a good cup of joe in a larger, even more lovely, venue.

The brains behind this new hidden café’s Brooklyn-evoking industrial décor is Be Grey (whose previous work includes Karmakamet and In the Mood for Love). The result is a gorgeous and thoughtful place well worth a visit, from the chic daybed out front to the lofty ceiling inside.

The real highlight is the coffee (from B85)—choose from espresso machine, drip or French press expertly made by Surapan Tanta. Enjoy your cup with bakery treats from Brooklyn Baker (Soi Polo) who whips up some scrumptious croissants.
