If you're not into clubs, here are the best places to chill out with a glass of wine.

Last year, we gave you a list of the best wine bars in the area. Sadly, some of these places have closed, so it's time to give the list an update. You'll see some favorites like Caveau and Napoleon, but get acquainted with The Black Swan and Praelum Wine Bistro. Check them out:

The Black Swan

A 1920s-style joint in heritage building The Quadrant in the heart of the CBD, this restaurant offers European bistro classics with a contemporary twist, such as steak tartare, an addictive baked bone marrow crostini and a pretty mean burger. They also have a great oysters and Champagne happy hour combo, as well as a condensed late-night bar snacks menu.

The Quadrant, 19 Cecil St., 8181-3305. Open Mon 11:30am-10:30pm; Tue-Thu 11:30-1am; Fri 11:30-2am; Sat 5pm-2am.

Caveau Wines & Bar

This understated yet stylish spot with wooden flooring and furniture transitions easily from daytime coffee bar (8am-5pm), using beans from local roasters including Papa Palheta, to wine lounge by night (from 5pm). Wash down fancy bar bites like char-grilled bratwurst and duck rillettes with crostini with over 16 different wines by the class from their Enomatic machines. There’s also a retail store with a 400-strong collection of wines to keep the connoisseurs entertained; enjoy them there or take some home with you.

#02-10 Shaw Centre, 1 Scotts Rd., 6737-2622. Open Sun-Thu 10:30am-11pm; Fri-Sat 10:30-1am.

Drinks & Co.

This low-key bottle shop has retail shelves on one side and colorful bar on the other and with a few outdoor tables that are quite popular in the evening. Expect very forward, forthright vinos, available by the bottle from as low as $38, while selected labels are served by the glass. You can purchase mixers like Fever-Tree Tonic and have them with snacks from Spizza down the street or with their in-house cheese platters.

 44 Club St., 6222-2005. Open Mon-Sat 11am-midnight; Sun 2pm-midnight.

Merchants

This wine cellar & store carries mostly Australian bottles in the space formerly occupied by The Pigeonhole. On the list are over 200 labels (from $30) from more than 50 boutique vineyards.

52-53 Duxton Rd., 6222-1162. Open Mon-Fri 8am-midnight; Sat 10-1am; Sun 11am-10pm.

Napoleon Food & Wine Bar

Fitted with dark wood and sleek black leaher, this chic bar has enomatic machines dispensing wines by four catgories—smooth, fruity, deep and spicy. Food-wise, opt for fancy-free nosh like chicken caesar salad and desserts like lemon tart brulee.

206 Telok Ayer St., 6221-9282. Open Mon-Fri 11:30am-midnight; Sat 6pm-midnight.

Ô Batignolles

Named after the Parisian neighborhood, this Amelie-esque bar sports an old school look involving marbletop tables and rattan chairs outside and a rich dark wood and red color scheme indoors. Drinkswise, there are affordable by-the-glass options with bottles (from $35) categorized according to flavor: fresh, fruity and light, balanced and elegant or intense and rich. Most of the wines—around 75 percent—are sourced straight from French vineyards and are exclusive to the place.

2 Gemmill Lane, 6438-3913. Open Mon-Tue 11am-midnight; Wed-Fri 11-2am; Sat 10-2am; Sun 10am-10pm

Praelum Wine Bistro

With understated black-and-white interiors, metal birdcage lights and art from the owner’s personal collection, this laidback spot is perfect for a quiet drink. There is a selection of wines by the glass dispensed by two Enomatic machines.

Verre Wine Bar

Located in a refurbished warehouse on the quieter side of Robertson Quay, this is an oenophile’s dream, with over 750 labels represented in its walk-in cellar with Bordeaux and Burgundy wines from $59. They’ve also got a rotating wine-by-the-glass list that allows you to experience new offerings every time. WOOBAR

This hotel lounge has it all: DJs spinning in the evenings, seaside breezes and views, tropical drinks, ladies nights and pool parties. Thanks to being part of a big-deal hotel, they also have a decent wine and Champagne list, which can be enjoyed alfresco, if typical stuffy wine lounges aren’t for you.

The clubs to hit for vertiginous views, the best DJ sets, the most premium bottle service and, of course, the most beautiful people.

We've all been there—you're done after a long day of work and need to blow off some steam. From Altimate to Zouk, we round up the best clubs in Singapore for you. After all, your clubbing experience isn't complete if you haven't been to all of them at least once.

Altimate

This ultra-luxe 4,000 sq. ft. space has glorious views of the skyline, while the interiors are bathed in LED lights and giant screens. On top of the cover charge, there are your run-of-the-mill club drinks and also a range of premium bottles. Music depends on the night, but you can count on a go-hard-or-go-home blend of R&B, dance and electronic music, with international guest acts playing alongside resident DJs.

61/F One Raffles Place, 1 Raffles Place, 6438-0410. Open Wed 10pm-3am; Fri-Sat 10pm-4am.

Attica

Spruced up after a major renovation last year, this Clarke Quay stalwart is still going strong. With cushy seats and an inviting bar, this nightspot is made for schmoozing, lounging and grooving. We particularly love the interior alfresco bar for when you want a breather from the loud music.

#01-03 Blk. A Clarke Quay, 3 River Valley Rd., 6333-9973. Open Sun-Tue 5:30-11pm; Wed 10:30pm-4am; Fri 10:30pm-4am; Sat 10:30pm-4am; Thu 10:30pm-3am.

Bang Bang

This snazzy nightclub is a collaboration between Massive Collective and nightclub veterans Joshua and Sarissa Schwartz. Taking over the old Mink, the new fittings have a brand new state-of-the-art LAcoustics sound system and a high resolution LED wall.

Pan Pacific Singapore,  Pan Pacific Singapore, 7 Raffles Blvd., 8127-2808. Open Wed 10pm-6am; Fri 10pm-6am; Sat 10pm-6am.

Canvas

After the closing of Home Club last year, the subsequent space, Canvas, is equal parts creative space and nightclub. When it is not hosting exhibitions, poetry readings and comedy, it does parties with resident DJs like Koflow and William J, and international visitors like DJs Apollo and Kutski.

#B1-01/06 The Riverwalk, 20 Upper Circular Rd., 6538-2928. Open Tue 5pm-1am; Wed-Fri 5pm-3am; Sat 6pm-4am.

CÉ LA VI

Complementing the restaurant and bar, the other side of the MBS rooftop is home to an equally lofty and swanky club. Since the rebranding from KU DE TA, they’ve refurbished and spruced up the menu, but the elevated lounge furniture remains.

57/F Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, 1 Bayfront Ave., 6688-7688. Open daily noon-4am.

Empire

The team behind Filter, Mink and Bang Bang brings you this chic bar and penthouse lounge where you can sip on cocktails while enjoying stunning views of the Marina Bay area.

45 Singapore Land Tower, 50 Raffles Place, 9128-7001. Open Mon-Thu 5pm-1am; Fri-Sat 5pm-3am.

Refuge

Limited Edition Concepts, the guys behind the now-defunct The Vault, are back in Boat Quay. The sleek club-lounge occupies a three-story shophouse and plays R&B and funk tunes. While the second floor is a full-fledged club with hip hop tunes and an urban feel, the third floor is all about down tempo beats with a playlist of funk, groove and classic songs. Never mind the harlequin-esque decor interspersed with dark wood, we’re digging the old school American soul here.

79A/B Circular Rd., Open Tue 5pm-1am; Thu 5pm-1am; Wed 5pm-3am; Fri-Sat 5pm-4am.

Kyo

Disappear underground via a dramatic stairwell and emerge in the 6,000 sq. ft. den, where modern minimalism meets traditional Japanese influences with plenty of rough-hewn stone, bronze and recycled wood. With an emphasis on quality, playlists feature a distinct genre and mood on each night of the week. Watch out for special guest DJs that sit right on the cutting edge of the international electronic music scene.

#B1-02 Keck Seng Tower, 133 Cecil St., 6225-6001. Open Wed-Thu 9pm-4am; Fri 9pm-4:30am; Sat 11pm-6am.

Pangaea

With a strict door policy (make sure you are dressed to the nines before heading here), the city’s poshest club and lounge is especially fitting if you’re in the mood to splurge on a table (minimum spend of $1,500); this is the place to be for pampering bar service.

#B2-05 South Crystal Pavilion, Marina Bay Sands, 2 Bayfront Ave., 8611-7013. Open Wed-Sat 10pm-6am.

Zouk

Much is changing for Singapore’s best-known night club, with a change in ownership recently announced and a change of address to Clarke Quay planned for mid-2016. Until then, it’s still the place to be seen at after two decades, with diverse music offerings that cater to all. Main floor Zouk is where weekly global DJs take to the floor and Phuture has its buzzy hip hop offerings. The star of the club is undoubtedly Velvet Underground, a sleek and exclusive lounge.

17 Jiak Kim St., 6738-2988. Open Wed 11pm-4am; Fri-Sat 10pm-4am.
