The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has organized a month of outdoor tunes for Bangkok communities for the whole month of January. If there’s a big park near you, chances are there is a band on the way this month. So, if you love music and are willing to brave the smog, this one's for you.
This coming weekend is the first outing for the event with a singular event at Benchakitti Park, but there will be seven total events from Friday to Saturday. Overall, there will be 18 events throughout the city’s parks through Jan 31.
The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation, which is collaborating with the event, will be bringing classical tunes along with the Bangkok Woodwind Quintet, but there will also be traditional Thai acts, including long-drum performances. Jazz fans will get treats from the Jellyroll Jazz Club, and there will be contemporary bands from around the city as well as local school bands.
While the events will be held all around the city, the communities around Benchakitti will have the most events, with half a dozen performances planned through the month.
