CoCo Walk 89/70 Phayathai Rd., 08-6331-2944. Open daily 6pm-late. http://thetubebar.hi5.com.

The buzz: The newest addition to CoCo Walk, The Tube, partly owned and operated by DJ Magic Muffin, stands apart from the rest of its neighbors with its arty touches.

The décor: Simple. You have an outer section that looks like it’s barbeque day at grandma’s and then you have an interior, which is about as big as six office cubicles. They love art over at Tube. So if you’ve got any art pieces you’d like to sell for a few bucks, you can use their walls as exhibition space. For now, you’ll find fun party pictures of the owners’ friends on the walls—eventually, the place will be redecorated to fit the underground artiste theme.

The music: The nights usually start off with easy-listening jazz and bossanova. Later on, you’ll taste a bit of rock. Most of the co-owners are also DJs, so the music varies depending on the crowd and theme. No Thai stuff though.

The crowd: Barely legal to somewhere in their 30s.

The price: Cocktails B80-120, liquor B190-1,250, beer B60-70.

Why you’ll come back: Convenient (CoCo Walk is practically on BTS Ratchatewi station) and arty, The Tube is a great place for those cash-stripped days.
