The buzz: Bringing Berlin’s outdoor “beach/pool” bar con-cept to Bangkok.
The décor: If and when you make it up the narrow fire-exit staircases on the side of the building, you’ll be greeted with a lot of sand, palm trees, tiki torches, white low seat-
ing, random pool floating devices and tiny guppies swim-
ming in pairs along a narrow bar counter top. Besides an off-to-the-side sit-down section and what looks like a dark “naughty” corner indented in the wall, the Sky Beach bar isn’t really a place to sit and have a chit-chat about work. However, foam parties with women in bikinis, men with packs or bulging beer bellies (we don’t discriminate), is more their style. If you’re worried about getting drunk and falling off the roof, don’t! Their walls are high enough to keep you safe.
The music: House. Guest DJs come in a few times a month for special parties.
The crowd: A mixed Thai-Farang crowd of young weekend partygoers.
The price: Whisky B1,200-1,600, vodka B1,400, beer B85-165, cocktails B135-170, shooters B90-140.
Why you’ll come back: You don’t like the salt water in your ears nor do you fancy a two-hour drive to crowded Pattaya. You’d rather pop some beers and bask in the breeze at a pseudo beach environment in the city itself. Plus, you’re a fan of foam
