Description

Situated next to Wat Arun, this colorful shophouse café is a pleasant find for weary tourists wishing to rest their feet or locals looking for a place to pass a lazy afternoon.

Painted in vivid orange and turquoise, A Day in Summer recreates the atmosphere of a tropical beach bar. Sumptuous batik pillows adorn the swing benches and beach chairs while colorful rows of syrup bottles line the bar. Bossanova and latin tunes complete the vacation ambiance. Head to the second floor and you can even lie on a bed. There is no air-con, but the ceiling fans work just fine even in this season thanks to the locale’s natural breeze.

“I want this café to be a second home for customers,” says owner Suwanee Leelaprachakul (Sung). “Feel free to linger over a cup of coffee while reading a book or chatting with your friends. Wifi is free, too.

”Don’t expect alcoholic cocktails, though. Here, it’s all about coffee and smoothies.
Prices are affordable, ranging from B30 for a lychee soda to B65 for a caramel latte frappe. Sung’s favorite is a simple cup of hot cappuccino (B40), accompanied by a ham and cheese waffle (B65). For those looking for more refreshing concoctions, try the Apple Jelly Milkshake (fresh green apple, gelatin, yogurt, B40) or Lychee Yakult (lychee, drinking yogurt, B40).
