In Samui, a shootout at a pub leaves one man dead and many injured. Kitti Janthet, 25 and his six friends are out at the Sweet Zone Pub in Samui when they are approached by members of the “Red Dragon Gang.” The gang members proceed to flirt with some of the girls in the group but are warned off by Kitti and his friends. At the end of the night, the friends are confronted by the gang members as they leave the club. After an exchange of words, the gangsters pull out guns and begin shooting. Two shots hit Kitti, killing him on the spot. The rest of the group, including Kitti’s brother Natthapol, all suffer gunshot wounds and are rushed to the hospital. Closed-circuit TV captures images of the attackers and police are now searching for the suspects.

In Khon Kaen, a woman accidentally drives her car off a building. Nuchiraporn Khonchue, 25, a resident of the Busarakham Hotel, is in her car on the second floor of the hotel’s parking lot. She accidentally steps on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to lurch forward, smash through a concrete barrier and plunge to the ground. As well as wrecking her own car, Nuchiraporn manages to damage over half a dozen motorcycles parked below. No injuries are reported.

In Phuket, two men are arrested in possession of over 100 kgs of heroine. Pongthat Pongthirasakul, 29 and Taiwanese Kuo Tak Tsai, 42, hid the drugs under concrete kitchen floor of their home while waiting to deliver it to small fishing boats for distribution overseas. The police raid, after a tip off by the US Drug Enforcement Administration, uncovers 261 bricks of heroine. The US DEA believe the pair were members of the “Southern Dragons” gang who distribute drugs throughout South East Asia.

In Srisaket, villagers erect a shrine in honor of a papaya. Saran Pornmachat, 62, who grows papayas in her backyard notices a “special” papaya which appears to have a nose, a pair of eyes and lips. The discovery prompts villagers to build a small shrine to worship the papaya. Many believe this will help them to divine the lottery numbers.
