For a more pleasant experience overall for registered runners, the organizers of the Standard Chartered Marathon 2012 have cancelled the five-kilometer race and have lowered the maximum number of runners for the half marathon to 10,000.

Being certified as a Gold Label race by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), Singapore's marquee running event offers a mix of categories for all ages and is one of the highlights of the local sports calendar with its grand city landscape race route.

This year's sporting event has partnered up with Pure Fitness to offer six lucky runners a six-month membership package worth $1,600 or 12-month membership worth $2,500.

Register for the race at Toa Payoh Sports and Recreation Centre.
