For those of us in Bangkok, Pattaya is a getaway—a spot that can be every bit as wild and busy as the capital but has touches of beach and greenery that make it a worthwhile jaunt from the Big Mango. The problem, though, is how (and where) to do it.
Pattaya can feel pretty spread out and, let’s face it, some neighborhoods don’t exactly appeal to a broad range of travelers. So the key to getting the most out of your weekend in Pattaya is picking the right starting line.
So, let’s pick our base: Hilton Pattaya. First off, this is dead center in the lively town area, and Pattaya Beach is just across the road.
If shopping is your thing, well, good news: you’re there already. Hilton Pattaya sits atop Central Pattaya, the city’s largest and most fashionable mall, filled with the highest fashion in the city and food options galore.
Just a block away from the hotel is the Pattaya Night Bazaar and only 400 meters from there is the busy Tree Town Pattaya Night Market. All this, and you’re still within walking distance of tourist hotspots like Walking Street and Art In Paradise Pattaya.
From here, you can fuel your morning with a buffet breakfast at Edge and end your evening at the infinity pool overlooking the Gulf of Thailand—a spot that Instagrammers love—with a cold drink in hand. From here, Pattaya is ready.
