Viking isn’t a nationality. It’s a calling. Now, you can gather your jarls, karls, and thralls together for a Nordic banger on the river as The Viking Boat Party returns to Bangkok
Hosted by the Thai-Nordic Association, the event will take place on March 28 on the Chao Phraya River, hosted by the Thai-Nordic Association. For the cosplayers, it’s time to get your leather ready because this is a costume event complete with viking costumes, Nordic flags, and live music.
The party kicks off at 4pm on the big day, and will feature a lot more than the usual dress up and tunes. Activities are featured throughout the day including a Viking-style buffet, Viking challenges, and a treasure hunt for Thor’s hammer (if you can lift it) with boats taking participating invaders to Bang Kachao.
On Bangkok’s favorite floating rager, Bangkok Island, the boat event kicks off in earnest—less longboat, more party boat—with a three hour cruise starting at 8pm, complete with live band, DJ, and the Bangkok night skyline.
No pillaging of temples has been announced in the program details. Previous statements from the organizer have stressed that there will be no violence and that the event will be a celebration of Nordic culture and tradition. That sounds like a Viking trick to us, but whatever.
Tickets are available now and scarce, capped at just 100 Vikings and shieldmaidens, so grab your helmet and get to it.
