Singha Food Festival will kick off next month, and it’s already looking like it’ll be one of the coolest events of the year. With booths sponsored by 30 of Bangkok’s hottest restaurants, attendees will be able to eat their way through classic and modern Thai food to American diner delicacies to authentic Japanese dishes, just to name a few. To help you out with getting those perfect pics for your Instagram stories, there will also be a beach-themed photo area complete with a backdrop and props.

But hey, a festival isn’t a festival without some solid live music to get everyone pumped! In addition to live DJ performances throughout the day, every evening, two electrifying artists will put on the ideal soundtrack to get the party ramped up — and keep it going.

On November 11, the dynamic duo Scrubb will command the stage from 8-9pm. Thawatpon “Muey” Wongboonsiri and Torpong “Ball” Chantabubpha crossed paths while both were studying at Silpakorn University, and upon graduating, formed Scrubb. After graduation, the two produced, promoted, and sent demos of their own to various Thai record labels before eventually signing with a label and releasing their first album SSS..S..S in 2003. Their list of hits include 2005’s “Together” from their album Club, and “Smile” from their 2013 album Clean.

At 9:30pm, Scrubb will hand the mic over to Burin Boonvisut. Informally referred to as Thailand’s “Godfather of Disco,” his albums and singles have topped several local music charts and won him numerous awards. Over the course of his career, he’s collaborated with a number of prominent Thai and foreign artists, including British pop group Swing Out Sisters and American jazz bassist Nathan East.

The next day, the pop-soul band The Parkinson will take over the 8-9pm slot. Made up of Niphat “Kan” Kamjornpreecha on guitar and lead vocals, Arithat “Beer” Kueajitkulanun on drums and backup vocals, and Natthawit “Toe” Odaki on bass and backup vocals, the band’s music is heavily influenced by the American blues genre. Originally a small trio of friends who gigged at jazz bars around Bangkok, the group eventually caught the attention of a record label, which then led to the release of their 2019 number-one hit single “Tell Her That I Love.”

Following The Parkinson is Joey Boy, who will take the stage from 9:30-10:30pm. Donning all three hats of writer, singer, and producer, Joey Boy is often regarded as the Godfather of Thai Hip-Hop. His song “Fun, Fun, Fun,” which was a collaboration with Canadian reggae artist Snow, became one of the country’s top-selling singles upon its release. During his time in the U.S., Joey Boy also became good friends with will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas fame, and was their opening act during their Bangkok shows in 2004 and 2006.

Then, to wrap up the live shows on November 13, attendees will first be serenaded by Thai-pop heartthrob Tom Isara. Isara was formerly a member of the band Room 39, before debuting as a solo artist in 2018. His biggest claim to fame, though, was winning the first season of the Thai version of the singing competition series The Mask Singer.

And finally, legendary ska-reggae band T-Bone will close the show with a bang! Initially formed by a group of college friends, T-Bone started out by playing Bob Marley covers in various clubs and bars around the nation. In 2005, the band became the first Thai band to play at the UK’s acclaimed Glastonbury Festival, and were reinvited for a second round in 2007.

The Singha Food Festival will run from November 11 to 13 from 4pm to midnight at the Morakot Parking Lot in Central Chidlom.
