This year’s Motor Expo’s green banner—Obligation of mankind, to stop global warming—is reflected in the show’s highlights, six environmentally friendly prototype concept cars that are being flown in from around the world by the leading motor manufacturers.
Chevrolet will be displaying the Volt, the electric car they hope to have on the roads by 2010. It can run 64km on a single charge and, when the battery runs out, you can utilize its small petrol engine to give it a recharge.
Mitsubishi will be exhibiting its electric city car known as the i-MIEV. The lithium-ion battery-powered, all-wheel drive, coupe will use a pair of in-wheel motors in the front along with a third motor driving the rear wheels. It has a range of 120 miles and has been driven by prime ministers from around the world just to prove that this stuff really works!
But it’s not just the Japanese and the Americans who are going green. Korean automaker, Hyundai, will be showing off the i10 Super Blue CNG which emits as little as 65g of CO2 per km.
If green isn’t your color, then head to the Cobra Scuderia booth, which will proudly be presenting Thailand’s first ever super car, the Cobra Scuderia Bizzarrini P538. The legendary super car which can reach speeds of over 250km/hr is a joint project between Thai and Italian designers and only four models will be made this year.
Looking for a more purebred stallion? Gallop straight over to the S.E.C. show area where you’ll get a glimpse of the latest Ferraris, Aston Martins and other supercars. The raging bull tickles your fancy? Local dealer Niche Cars will have the latest Lamborghinis on display.
If none of these get your blood pressure rising then, then check out the Japanese exotic car maker Mitsuoka. This small company has made a name for itself building modern cars to resemble classic British models of the 1950s and 1960s.
With all this on show, it should make for happy motoring.
