The Asia version of the global World’s 50 Best Restaurants, by San Pellegrino, was released last night with nine Bangkok restaurants topping the first 50 spots.
 
Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn, the chef-owner of modern Thai fine-dining restaurant Le Du, once again secured spots among the top 10, with his debut restaurant Le Du winning first place in Asia and Thailand and his chef’s table Nusara ranking 3rd in Asia and 2nd in Thailand.
 
This year was also a return for molecular gastronomy wizard Gaggan Anand after an absence from the list last year, as his restaurant Gaggan ranked 5th and his Mexican-Indian casual dining Mrs. Maria and Mr. Singh came out at 33rd.
 
The Top 50 also saw a debut entrance from Pitchaya “Pam” Utarntham’s Thai-Chinese progressive fine-dining restaurant Potong ranked 35th.
