BANGKOK RESTAURANT

Albert Chatenet

This chef's croissants were named the best in Paris. Now he's moved to Bangkok.

Raised in France, pastry chef Albert Chatenet worked for renowned names like Lenotre, Royal Monceau and Patisserie Sylvain Joubert. The highlights of his small bakery here are his butter croissant and galette (almond cream filled pastry), which were recognized as the best in Paris by Chambre Professionnelle des Artisans Boulangers-Patissiers (a group of artisans who uphold traditional baking standards) in 2013 and 2015. Get there by noon because some pieces run out quickly.

Following a few massive French brands and a handful French expats, Bangkok’s now welcomed an award-winning Laos-born baker.

Pastry chef Albert Chatenet was raised in France, where he worked for renowned names like Lenotre, Royal Monceau and Patisserie Sylvain Joubert.

The highlights of his small bakery here include his butter croissant (B40) and galette (almond cream filled pastry, B200), which were recognized as the best in Paris by Chambre professionnelle des Artisans Boulangers-Pâtissiers (a group of artisans which requires all members to adhere to traditional baking standards) in 2013 and 2015, respectively.

Expect lots of fancy French ingredients like Grand Moulin flour, Elle & Vire butter and Cacao Barry chocolate, plus other picks like baguettes (B50), mini ham croissants (B30) and Palmier (butterfly-shaped puff pastry, B35).

Make sure to get there by noon (we suggest before 10am) or call to reserve, because some pieces are highly likely to run out.
