Ippudo Ramen (Thonglor)

The beloved Hakata ramen chain adds cocktails to the mix.

The latest branch of Fukuoka-born ramen empire Ippudo invites Japanophiles to slurp salty tonkotsu broth while sipping on cocktails with oriental touches.

They're dubbing the J Avenue opening "the first Ippudo bar concept in Thailand," which means new drinks like the sake-based Wasabi Cool (B210), which mixes refreshing aloe vera juice, sweet vanilla syrup and a fiery aftertaste—the perfect thing to wash down these hefty bowls.

Hardcore drinkers also shouldn’t miss the Ninja Power (B250), with its potent combination of Suntory Kaku whiskey, Cinzano Rosso and cynar liqueur.

The new branch still offers founder and three-time winner of Japan’s TV Champion Ramen Chef Winner, Shigemi Kawahara's three signature variations of Hakata-style tonkotsu broth, alongside some new additions.

In the Daimyo Lekei Tonkotsu (B330) thick noodles swim in a rich chicken and pork bone soup, balanced perfectly with salty soy sauce. For those who prefer a little kick to their food, the juicy braised pork belly of the Hakata Tantanmen Special (B340) simmers in a spicy picante tonkotsu broth.

Ippudo has nine other branches and kiosks across Bangkok.
