The Donut Cafe

Chiang Mai’s award-winning vegan donut shop opens in Bangkok.

After perfecting its recipes at its first shop in Chiang Mai, this award-winning cafe has found a sweet spot in Phrom Phong.

It will take another two months for the coffee shop to be fully set up, but it’s already open, and freshly baked donuts are being served hot in the cozy, cotton candy-colored cafe.

The craze for round-shaped pastries in Bangkok has been taken up a notch in the past few years, but this plant-based cafe proves that vegan donuts can stand up to their full-cream counterparts—if not be even better in taste.

The donut base itself stands out with its extremely soft, chewy, nearly grease-free texture, but the flavors take things up a notch.

Sink your teeth into the Krispy Kreme-like original glazed donuts (B65) or classic cinnamon (B65). For extra punch, go for the lemon poppy (B75), which are drizzled with fresh lemon juice and zest, or raspberry chocolate (B75), featuring homemade raspberry puree and dark cocoa to cut through the sweetness. For something richer, try the peanut butter chocolate (B75) or crunchy, chocolate toasted almond (B75).

Chiang Mai’s coffee beans are the highlight here, with options of medium and dark roast, along with dairy-free options of almond milk, oat milk, and soy milk (from B75 for a cappuccino or americano). Try them in a dirty latte (B85), an aesthetically pleasing double shot of espresso on cold milk.

The shop stays open until it sells out.
