This might be the best time to drop by the usually steamy hot streetside shophouse and sample its fresh seafood. Prices are B35-220. Try the goong ob woonsen (prawns baked in a pot with glass noodles) and salt-coated grilled sea bass.
Aun Pochana

Opt for a table inside the defunct theater or grab a seat on the footpaths and order yourself a bowl of kuay jub. Here, the rice noodles are served with pork entrails, crispy moo krob and a peppery, clear broth, which works wonders as a cure for the flu or a hangover.
Jae Wa and Jae Yong Hainanese Noodles

Run by two sisters, this long-running stall rolls out Hainanese noodles (B40) with clear, savory soup, but we prefer its “dry” version—firm noodles, tender chunks of braised beef, pickled cabbage, braised bamboo shoots all drenched in a thick sauce loaded with peanuts and white sesame.
Jek Pui (Je Chia)

The atmosphere is non-existent. The service is cranky. There are no tables. So be ready to play musical chairs as you have to fight with a throng of hungry diners for a plastic stool. The reward? A plate of rice topped with delicious milky Chinese-style beef curry (B25).
Khaotom Kraduk Muu Chaloemburi
Near Charoen Krung Soi 22, next to Lord Chong Singapore, 089-770-9517. Open daily noon-9pm.
This is just a small vending cart with a few tables sprawling on the road, but its comforting bowl of khaotom kraduk muu (boiled rice with pork ribs, B30) is sure to please both your stomach and your wallet.
Bangkok Street Show
You might have seen the freakishly steady “silver man” in New York or the amazing jugglers on the streets of London. Finally, here’s your chance to see some street performaces in Bangkok with our first ever international Street Show Festival. Open to the public, free of charge, and set in Lumpini Park, there will be a range of international performers like Brazilian BMX champion James Yogi doing over 20 different stunts on his bike or Dabu from Japan and Korea performing a variety of acrobatic arts ranging from wire-walking to block juggling. Other acts include Barbara Murata’s street theater, which combines both mime and dance and the local Sinjareon Brothers, who bring together music and stand up comedy.
