Smooth music, a club reborn, and a new spot to watch for local live bands.

Thonglor has three new music bars you can check out this month

Everyone knows Thonglor is where the cool kids go—especially the cool kids with mommy and daddy’s credit card. But in recent years, this hot Sukhumvit area has been diversifying with spaces that cater to a broader crew. While you still have new spots like Wasteland pushing the cocktail envelope and fun dive bars like Allso have been making waves, music is making new in-roads in this neighborhood already known for its tunes.

Re-opening just three weeks ago, this spot is a Thonglor vibe. Music is on the menu with club vibes at Mil Social Club (sometimes also just Mil Club)—think fireworks in bottles, shots, and lots of dancing.

This space is thumping from Wed-Sun with DJs playing to a wild house. Still at J Avenue, you can expect long DJ sets for their weekend parties, with five spinners hitting the decks every night this weekend. Tonight, they’re featuring Arm, Setty, Jahjaboyz, Nat, and MC Plato. We can see this growing as a space for local and established DJs alike.

It’s not exactly an underground atmosphere, more of a club, but this is a return to form after the previous Milley ISC shut down in February earlier this year.

Groove 55

Found on the dining and nightlife hub of Thonglor 10, this space, as you might have guessed, is about the music. In Thonglor, you go to Speakerbox for dynamic live shows, 12x12 for party tunes, and Black Cabin for high end vibes, so Groove 55 is positioning itself as a, well, groove.

They celebrated their soft opening in August and now are in full swing, inviting acts from around the city for chill, moody tunes that make this an ideal date spot right off the main road.

One thing to note about this spot is that it’s not just a bar—and it’s open at 10am. With very local Bangkok vibes, you can pop in for your Thonglor lunch for some classic dishes. This weekend they’ve got Zom Marie and Ben Chalatit in the house, so maybe give it a whirl.

Weekend Thonglor

This spot is what you think of when you think of a Thonglor music bar—hi-so, a small stage, and a chill vibe that gets wild late.

But the hi-so looks are deceiving, because this space actually features some pretty good drink deals at the moment. From Sun-Thu, they’ve got a beer buffet starting at B499 from 6pm-2am and BOGO cocktails for ladies on Tuesdays.

Now, let’s talk tunes. It’s still early days, but they seem to be bringing in local talent both on their decks and on the stage. Each night is split between live acts and DJs, with each evening with one feature DJ playing in between the live shows.

This weekend will see headliners Illuminati and 91 Party on Friday and Saturday respectively. Both nights will feature three live bands from 7:45pm-late, making this a spot to watch for your local favorites.
