Speakerbox, Thonglor’s favorite space for live music, will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary this week, complete with more than half a dozen plans playing on the mainstage and front room all night.
On July 8, the night opens at 8pm with punk from The Mango Mayhems, followed by Changeover, Papanin K and The Marshmallow Band, fusion from HED, and a headline performance from Malaiman Downtown for all the lovers of reggae.
But, what’s great about the new and improved Speakerbox is the relatively more chill front room area, where local favorites ROMROM will be playing starting at 10:30pm.
Now, there have been a few caveats in that 10 years, including the recent but fairly brief shuttering of the old space, but ever since Speakerbox returned in force to Liberty Plaza, it’s been at the center of the downtown live music scene.
This is the beating heart of the local live music scene, so head down Wednesday to show them some love. After the shuttering of Studio Lam and Noise House Latprao earlier this year, we need to keep spaces like this alive.
