Sugar Ray

This collaboration between some of Bangkok's hippest of hipsters is tiny, moody and dedicated to seriously good cocktails.

Sugar Ray
30 March, 2014 Bangkok time
Sugar Ray, the speakeasy from the masterminds also behind Q&A and Thaipioka, has left its homey digs in Ekkamai for Sukhumvit Soi 24.

Located inside the sprawling Octo Seafood Bar, this new incarnation of the bar (which first opened in 2014) swaps the original’s mix-and-match charm for something sleeker and more minimalist. A back-lit bar shows off a well-stocked alcohol shelf, while there’s a scattering of tables for seating.

We suggest grabbing a stool at the bar to watch the bartenders at work—these guys will answer every drink-related question you can throw at them.

On top of the classics—Manhattan (B420), mojito (B340)—you can expect signature cocktails with Asian twists like Elixir #1 (B380), which combines ginseng-infused gin, bianco vermouth, absinthe, Cointreau and lemon, or Born & Raise (B350), an easy-drinking mix of Thai tea-infused gin, homemade pandan syrup, mandarin orange and lime.

A set of turntables is set aside for some late-night party vibes.
