Sri Nakarin Rd., 02-710-5525. Open daily 5:30pm-very late.
The buzz: Who would’ve thought there would be an after hours spot in Bangna that actually caused traffic jams? Still, the combination of a chilled outdoor bar, club and karaoke is proving a big draw for the area’s late night denizens.
The décor: Don’t be misled by the pictures of khao phad and khai chiew that flank the exterior. This is much more than a restaurant. However, if you have the late night munchies then seat yourself outside in their huge covered area—a perfect spot to linger while you enjoy some food, drinks and a chat while listening to solo acoustic strumming. It’s certainly more aesthetically pleasing outdoors, with its red and white sofas, a gigantic screen behind the stage and draped off areas catering to couples and groups of four. The club interior is rather drab in comparison with a red-carpeted dance floor and a bunch of white-washed tables and chairs. Not that aesthetics are really the main concern for the clientele who come for the occasional live band and DJs. There is also a karaoke room equipped with an impressive selection of Thai and international songs.
The music: Live English and Thai music with a combination of indie and rock and the occasional Carpenters’ hit.
The crowd: A slightly more mature clientele that’s predominantly made up of office workers early on before the bar fills up with Bangna’s late night crowd.
The price: Cocktails B220, whiskey B650-8,900 and beer B120-190.
Why you’ll come back: As well as getting you out of the city, the Thai-Chinese kitchen at this after hours venue is a great way to satisfy those late night munchies.
