After closing in June, the popular Bar Scofflaws reopened last month, a big hit with the Ekkamai crowd who like good drinks.
Their hiatus was sudden, but we knew they’d be back. When last we checked in with this spot, before the closing, they were on the “Spectrum,” making cocktails inspired by colors. The mixologists among you will want to know that their new theme is “Bloom” and you’ll be getting a heady dose of floral notes with their new menu.
The bar, named after the Paris-born drink of the same name, still has a dark ambience and a chic, fashionable atmosphere that’s just on the right side of seedy. This spot has been around since 2020, so long time fans know what to expect.
But don’t go thinking this is another stuffy cocktail bar; this place parties and stays open late. The revivified space will, as ever, be featuring live music, which will put it in league with the spate of casual live music spots that have opened just around the corner in Thonglor—but none of those spots have cocktails that can compete.
Though they’ve only been open for around two weeks, the bar is already starting to reach out and will have a guest shift from Tokyo’s Rokukawa Kosuke and Yuya Kobayashi tomorrow.
Ekkamai has long been the spot for those who like the Thonglor party scene but expect more out of the vibes (and prices). Found just off the busy main road, this space is a party locale that’s not that convenient for the BTS—but that just means that it, like a lot of spots in this area, brings an interesting crowd. In fact, a bite and pregame at Tuba, a cocktail at Bar Scofflaws, and a show at Speakerbox sounds kind of like the perfect Bangkok night out.
