Diehard is a new space in Asoke’s Terminal 21 serving up American-style deli sandwiches, coming to Bangkok from Chef Thanachot ‘Bam’ Thammapeera, also known for Blendies gelato and the previous Rare BKK.
For this, Chef Bam has traded in the fine dining of Rare BKK and has traded it in for a kiosk in downtown’s most popular mall. On the LG floor, the classic pastrami sandwich is the draw, where you can choose your preferred cut of meat and sauce.
Featuring Australian Wagyu, visitors can choose from beef cheek, brisket, or navel pastrami to build their ultimate pastrami sandwich — each on brined and seasoned for six days and smoked. The build-your-own menu includes four toppings and a choice between sourdough or sourdough rye bread
The portions won’t disappoint, with a standard serving coming with 200 grams of meat for brisket and navel, and 320 for the cheek cut. There’s also a “baby” cut if you’re not that hungry.
Blendies, perhaps Chef Bam’s most widely recognized success, can be found at malls throughout the city, but old timers in Bangkok will remember the buzz around Rare BKK, which started serving up tasting menus before (as happened to so many) Covid claimed it.
The classic American deli venue is a simple eight-seat space in the mall, and diners can watch the magic happen at the live cooking station.
