Description

The buzz: The favorite chillout bar on Saphan Huachang has branched out to Khao San, and soon the original location will be closed. The place is good for both diners and serious drinkers. Everyone knows Taksura has good Thai food, and the prices are low.
The décor: Located in a 100-year-old house, it keeps the rustic feel of faded colors, damp stains and shabby windows. You can imagine a film noir murder scene happening in here. There’s no air-conditioning,
which is why most customers prefer the outdoor area. The second floor is still an empty space, with a horrific old-style bathroom on display—you don’t want to be there alone.
The music: A mix of covering cheesy Thai pop, easy-listening, jazz and hip hop. The music is always at a conversational level, that’s why not many people care what’s playing.
The crowd: Taksura’s old fans, mostly present and former students of Chulalongkorn University, are gradually making themselves at home in this new establishment.
The bill: Red Label B790, Black Label B1,250, Sang Som B260, mixers B15. Food is B35-150.
Why you will come back: The laid back atmosphere and low prices make it a good option for a friends' gathering. The house will be love at first sight for many, especially those fond of architecture from the reign of King Rama V.
