Description

The buzz: Not yet officially opened intimate jazz bar, where the cool cats lounge and listen to jazz, man.

The décor: Back issues of Billboard magazine as wallpaper, plus scattered framed posters, photos and paintings of Miles, Coltrane, Thelonious and Ella. Quality cushioned wooden chairs, and funky comfy vinyl covered stools help you relax and feel comfortable while you parlay with friends, a date or someone who you see there who you would like to be your friend or date.

The music: Jazz, jazz and a little blues and soul mixed in. Two live sets each on Fri and Sat nights, although when they have their official opening on Nov 10, they may expand to offer more nights of live music each week.

The crowd: Jazz loving Thais and cultured farangs wearing casual, yet avant-garde, attire.

The price: Whiskeys—Black Label B1,250; Regent (small) B330 and more. Also, reasonably priced food available from the nearby street culinary master Je Hoy.

Why you’ll come back: It’s hip and rather hidden, if that’s your thing. Great place to talk (on nights without the live music), or if you like to get down with the jazz sound, and you enjoy being super close to musicians as they blow their horns, pick their guitars and hit the drums. Check their nice lineup of musicians on their website.
