Description
We like to boogie, but we'd pretty much given up on live music pubs in the Khao San neighborhood. Being packed in like sardines with a mass of sweaty strangers without room to breathe, let alone move, is not our idea of fun. So when a little bird told us about a new venue offering live music in more comfortable surrounds, we enthusiastically headed over to Oh Bar
The one-month-old watering hole welcomes visitors to its lobby area with a nicely laid out red carpet and sofa. The inside is draped in contemporary style with Victorian touches. Low-rise tables and comfy sofas line the main area. At the back is the bar, which also doubles as a DJ booth. The second floor is more secluded and equipped with a pool table.
As a band venue, Oh Bar stands out from its competitors with a raised stage that presents the bands more professionally and makes the show visible from any table. Live bands take
turns churning out mainstream hits every night at 9:30pm and 11:30pm. Drop by on Fri or Sat night at 11:30pm if a head banging good time delivered by a cute band is what you are looking for. Just a mere month after Oh Bar’s launch, the fresh-faced singer and his mates have already won themselves a small legion of female fans. During breaks, a house DJ spins commercial hip hop along with the hits from the 80s that make you feel like you are in a bar in Lang Suan. Service is attentive as the staff are dedicated to encouraging you to dance and drink more. The booze and mixer prices here are like happy hour at other bars. If you go before 10pm, Mon-Thu, two bottles of Red Label are B1,190, two Black Label are B1,990, two Dewar’s (5 years) are B990, two William Lawson are B690 and mixers are B30.
