Description

Located opposite Thonglor Soi 8, this one-month-old shophouse pizzeria is decked out in black and orange hues, food court-like style, with only five tables scattered loosely under photos of the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty. “The décor here is the same as in outlets in America, as well as the recipes,” says managing director Tassanarom Goodier.

The short menu includes a brief selection of calzones and side dishes, but the crisp pizzas are the way to go. Among the 15 varieties on offer, best-sellers are Hell’s Kitchen (mozzarella, tomato sauce, pepperoni, sausage, onion, green peppers, garlic, mushrooms and black olives) and The Pig (mozzarella, bacon, tomato sauce, mushrooms). “Over 50 percent of the ingredients are imported from Europe,” adds Tassanarom. “The dough and sauces are made fresh daily.” Here, the pizzas are sold both by the slice (B80) and by the pie (B470 for 18” inch and B390 for 16” inch). Slices are chosen from an 18” inch pie on display. Usually, there are about seven toppings on offer—each has a three-hour shelf life.

Eighty percent of customers are by delivery, which is free for the first three kilometers around the shop; after that, the pizzeria charges a fee according to the distance. Note that New York-style dough should be reheated in an oven only, not a microwave, or else it will become tough and chewy.

Thin, 18’’ inch and foldable New York-style pizza has now arrived in Bangkok at New York Style Pizza. The Macy Jean (mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce) or The Pig (mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, bacon and mushrooms) are just some of their toppings. The regular 18’’ pizza is B470 and the 16’’ is B390. Just like in New York, pizzas are also sold by the slice.
