Dear BK, I am still waiting for part 2 of your “Afraid of Getting Old?” issue on anti aging solutions for your 20s, 30s and 40s (Jul 25, 2008). With life expectancy for women rising
to 80 from 74 years, and for men to 75 years from 67. And the massive demographic changes in the population with those aged over 60 expected to double from 9.4 percent in 2000 to 18.21 percent in 2025, the oldies merit some consideration and acknowledgement. The pets already had their cover story (Jul 18, 2008). So we, the 50s, 60s and even the 70s are waiting our turn. What to do with those liver spots, cellulite, old folks’ homes, receding hairlines, receding gums, hip replacements, etc.
Going on 60 but Still Reading BK
Dear BK, Recently, there were two crimes committed by teenagers. First, a nineteenyear-old kid attempted to rob a taxi driver and killed him. He said that killing someone is so easy in games, he wanted to try it out in real life. The other incident involved a gang of teenagers trying to rob a gold shop. They said that the desire of becoming a politician drove them to do it. There is something that confuses me: the consequences of these two events. For the fi rst one the game is blamed and banned. For the second, nothing. Why?
News Watcher
Dear BK, While reading the latest BK, I was a bit surprised, as I felt like I’d read it before. Definitely not a good dejà vu. The contents looked just fi ne but something was missing—the usual juicy, humorous and sarcastic BK. Is BK getting older? Be what you used to be, BK.
BK’s Watchdog
Dear BK, After reading “The India Issue” (Aug 15), I visited the Pahurat Market for the first time. The “senses of India” that I experienced there were very impressive. Thanks for exploring my world. Good job guys!
