In Bangkok, police raid a 200 rai kratom field in Minburi. Na, 44, the owner of the field, admits that he’s been planting kratom, a drug with similar effects to opiates, for over 10 years. Police also find 100kg of dry kratom leaves packed in plastic bags as Na was expecting a middleman to come pick them up. He claims that since the drug is not A-class (like yaba) and many people in the area plant the tree, he thought it was legal to do so. The police raid his neighbors and finds another10,000 kratom trees planted on over 100 rai. (read more...)
