Pizza Galore
Joining our extensive list of places where you can stuff yourself silly during lunch is Viva vino (Grand Mercure Park Avenue, 30 Sukhumvit Soi 22, 02-261-3235. Open daily noon-1am). Through June 30, their all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, which includes, er, “classics” like al fungi (mushroom, for you non-Italians) and Hawaiian (ham and pineapple, for you Italians), is a mere B200. Mon-Fri, the buffet runs noon-2:30pm; if two-and-a-half hours isn’t enough, fatso, save your satang for Sat, when it’s noon-5pm.
You Go, Grill
Within screaming distance of the hotel of choice for visiting K-popstars, the Dusit Thani, two new Korean restaurants have opened their doors. The first is Sampoong (167/5-7 Surawong Rd., 02-233-7692. Open daily noon-11pm), where the B490 set for one person includes a choice of various meats, vegetables and soup.Meanwhile, Hanilkwan (58/18-20 Soi Thaniya, Silom Rd., 02-632-8344. Open Mon-Sat 11am-2pm 5:30pm-2am, Sunday 5:30pm-2am) is proving popular with Korean and Japanese diners (at separate tables, of course), in large part due to their selection of reasonably priced set meals. At lunch, try the pork sparerib soup set (B150) which comes with kimchi, rice and salad; or go grill with the galbisal (boneless rib meat) set (B380).
The World in 24 Hours
After an enthusiastic night of clubbing, sometimes one cuisine isn’t satisfying enough. Promising food from five different continents 24/7, The World (Centara Grand, 24/F CentralWorld, 999/9 Rama 1 Rd., 02-100-1234 ext 6478) is ideal for post-party decompression when your gang is bored of khao tom. During daylight hours, stop by this “intercontinental” eatery for their daily buffet lunch (B690), or order off the a la carte menu.
