Toys for the Boy

November 23rd, 2007

Dear Mr.KIA: Ever since my boyfriend got into the Band of Brothers TV series, military aircraft, tanks and submarines have become his new best friends. He simply can’t stop talking about them and looking them up online. I don’t mind really, but it’s beginning to get a bit annoying since it is all he ever talks about. The other day he mentioned trying to find some models of antique military vehicles, but I don’t think he knows where to begin looking. Being the nice girlfriend that I am, I do want to help him out. Please, Mr. KIA, let me know where some good model shops are located so I can send him shopping and get some peace and quiet. Thanks a ton!—Hate His Freak Hobby

Dear HHFH: Before giving you venues to keep your ears in peace and your man’s mouth in the right place, I must wonder aloud if the guy ever complains about your shopaholic syndrome. Come on, everybody’s got to be addicted to something. In any case, there are hundreds of toyshops in Bangkok, but finding the one with the right models takes a little while to find. Luckily, you have Mr. KIA to lend you assistance and point you in the right direction from the very start. Good luck and enjoy your peace and quiet!

Plamo has all that a model enthusiast needs. Aside from military and car models, they also have anime and other toys, too. The place is a community for toy addicts to join workshops and exchange know-how and get to know each other. Worldwide delivery service is offered.

Winner Hobby is a good choice if your boyfriend is looking for aircraft models. The shop specializes in plastic planes, helicopters, fighting aircraft and commercial planes. Most products are Japanese brands, such as Tamiya, Fujimi and Aoshima.

MoDelivery is where you can order model bodies, figures and airbrush and paint accessories and have them delivered to your door. Trumpeter, Dragon, Academy, Tamiya and other well-known brands are all available. If you’d rather not order online, you can also visit the shop at Sanam Luang directly. All orders are delivered within three days.
