Is The Tank Tanking?

Tanking?

We know The Tank in Ekkamai serves good fusion/international chow. But to survive in Ekkamai, it takes more than that. With fewer clients than hoped for, The Tank is now going down the path of bar-ization by dimming the lights, slightly cranking up the music and extending its opening hours. We’ll tell you more once it officially mutates into a bar.

Black is the New Pink

The night before Valentine’s Day, Black Label threw a pre-Valentine’s Day party called Black Heart Party at Santika. We weren’t invited but as professional party crashers, slipped in nonetheless. Everyone was asked to put on a black heart sticker with their personal message. The best message even got to win a prize. Cute, right? It was also an opportunity to check out their new balcony section where we were greeted by five cute little black angels in handcuffs. The trick was to unlock the cuffs in a limited amount of time to get pampered by the girls until midnight. There were also fortunetellers who answered your love and relationship questions. And since the venue was Santika, there were some smashing bands: Blackhead and Groove Rider, no less.

No Time to Flirt

On Valentine’s Day, many people were out with their significant others and enjoying some together time. Others headed to Bed Supperclub for the latest Chivas Music Terminal party, Flirt Flight with DJ Raul. VIPs were impressed with the Chivas ice bar (a whole block of ice crafted into a bar) in the open-air lounge. Everyone was treated to special Chivas cocktails and soap opera fans were thrilled by the amount of TV stars that showed up. Raul was on the decks by 11-something and kept at it all night long. The crowd went simply mad—even the posh posers lost control and began jumping around. When the Madonna remix came on, all hell broke loose. Raul told BK he wanted to be remembered as Raul, not Paul. OK Paul, uh Raul, we promise to never forget your name.

No Smoking

While we’re at Bed, the question now on everyone’s lips (in place of a cigarette) at all indoor venues is, “Where will people smoke?” At Bed, the small ledge by the DJ booth has become the place to be. The no smoking ban has ushered in a whole new way of socializing to the tone of “we’re stuck here so we might as well chat” conversations. We’re smokers AND we’re thrilled. Everywhere we go, the air is cleaner and purer. Stepping outside for a smoke isn’t such a big deal.
