SUKHOTHAI

Old Capital, New Face

The old capital of Siam and timeless architectural treasure, Sukhothai, has long had a dearth of luxury accommodation. With the recent arrival of the Sukhothai Heritage Resort (999 Moo 2, Klongkrajong, Sawankaloke, Sukhothai, 055-647-564/-74, www. sukhothaiheritage.com), a “boutique” option is now available, with a Thai traditional theme and a very Buddhist influence. Don’t worry, you still get free wifi and the usual modern facilities. The spacious resort amid organic rice fields and the low-rise structure is surrounded by gardens, lotus ponds and two swimming pools. It stands a few minutes from the airport and is close to tourist attractions like Sri Satchanalai Historical Park. Take advantage of its introductory special rates: B2,500 for a superior room with breakfast. Through Oct 31.

CHIANG MAI

D is for Discount

The boutique hotel belonging to the Dusit chain, D2 Hotel (100 Chang Klan Rd., Muang, Chiang Mai, 053-999-999, www.d2hotels.com), is inviting guests to try their Delightful studio suite with its special package. You get two night’s accommodation, round trip airport transfer, a bottle of red or white wine, breakfast, daily gift, free use of internet for 45 minutes per day and tea, coffee and soft drinks at the corporate lounge. It’s B15,999 per night for a single or double. Through Dec 22.
