March 1st, 2008Wine Affairs
The Sukhothai (13/3 South Sathorn Rd., 02-344-8888, www.sukhothai.com) is hosting two wine dinners in March. On Mar 10, Celadon welcomes winemakers from JJ Prum, the reputable German vineyard, for a special wine dinner,
accompanied by a five-course Asian set dinner (B1,950). Then on Mar 19-21, The Garden Villa brings in Chef Peter Reschke from d’Arry’s Verandah, a hilltop restaurant overlooking d’Arenberg winery in South Australian. During the three-day event, the guest chef will put together a table d’hote (a set dinner) presenting his signature dishes drawn from the most popular items on his restaurant’s menu. Winemakers from d’Arenberg will also accompany Chef Reschke to introduce d’Arenberg wines.
Rip-roaring Ribs
With three outlets already up, Great American Rib has recently added another branch to its growing barnyard. The five-month-old Ramindra franchise (220 Ramindra Soi 57, KM. 5, 02-945-9091, www.greatrib.com. Open daily 11am-11pm) respects the original on Sukhumvit Soi 36, so you know what to expect—a huge-portioned barbecue meal which goes down perfectly with pitchers of beer or margaritas.
Ready to Nestle
By the time you read this, Nest (Le Fenix Sukhumvit, 33/33 Sukhumvit Soi 11, 02-305-4000, www.lefenix-sukhumvit.com) will have probably already opened. The stylish rooftop café/bar aims to be a one-stop venue, where you can nestle yourself in one of the outdoor salas or swing beds, enjoy brunch accompanied by bird’s eye views of the city or simply have rounds of drinks as you dance to a mix of soul, funk and disco.
