Q&A: Tanupon En-on

December 12th, 2007

Khon Kaen native Tanupon was third runner-up at the 8th Panasonic Contemporary Art Competition. Apart from painting, he also teaches at Mahasarakam University.

First job: Teacher.

Hate that job: Anything to do with finance and paperwork.

Art is: My best friend. It never upsets me; it offers only happiness. It’s a necessity.

Favorite Bangkok art scene: The National Gallery, Chao Fah Gallery, the Queen’s Gallery and all the galleries along Silom Road.

Inspired by: Mural paintings in Isaan temples and things around us like plants and animals.
This exhibition in 3 words: Fun, imagination and Isaan’s fertility.

Idol: HM the King and my parents.

First thing to do in the morning: Listening to music and reading art magazines.

Last thing to do before going to bed: Sketching, reading, listening to music—I don’t have a TV.
